The ancient healing art of Thai Massage gives you the unique opportunity to both let go of deep-down fatigue and feel totally energized in body and mind. This dynamic form of massage originated in Thailand and has roots in traditional Indian (Ayurvedic) massage, Yoga, and Chinese Massage -- including the use of acupoints and meridians to move universal or vital energy called Qi or Prana. Your Thai Massage will begin with you lying or sitting on a padded mat in the comfort of your own clothes. Your therapist will use their palms, thumbs and feet to apply appropriate amounts of pressure and rhythmic movement to release tight muscles. You may find pain dissolving as the energy channels are opened to allow stagnant energy to flow. This is followed by gentle yet deep stretches and passive rotations bringing you to a whole new depth of rest and flexibility. You may even find yourself inverted! Kam T. Chow, one of the world's foremost practitioners, describes the result as "a slow, flowing dance with and around the recipient's body." The flow of treatment may move you through lying face-up, face-down, on your side, and sitting. Proper breathing is essential to the release of physical and mental tension and you will be guided through this. Pillows are incorporated to ensure comfort and support. Your Thai massage will close with your senses being refreshed by Japanese Mint Oil massaged into the neck or temples. Rising from the mat you might feel profoundly calm and lighter with a clear mind and your heart soaring. We all know that stretching is good for us but it's often the first thing to be skipped when we're busy or tired. So try this "lazy-man’s yoga" (or assisted hatha yoga) and let us do the work for you. If you're a little nervous about being stretched, don’t worry--Thai massage emphasizes metta, loving compassion and kindness; your feedback is encouraged so that the movements are just right for you and within your limits wherever they happen to be on a given day.
