Fall at Ste. Anne's Spa

Wednesday, November 02, 2016

During the fall season, there is something magical about breathing crisp air on a leisurely stroll down a country road, with a palette of red, yellow and orange against the blue sky instead of green, beige and brown. Picture Mother Nature dipping her paintbrush into a chaos of colour to paint the landscape.

That’s just one of the joys of this time of year at Ste. Anne’s, here in the heart of Ontario’s Northumberland Hills. There are different walking routes we love to take. You can wander through the fields by the angel statue, to our beautiful poustinia, the small chapel we built as an ideal place to sit in peace and meditate. There are often surprises along the way – a stream here, a deer or chipmunk there. There are joys to discover along the roadways too, leading to cottages, farms and our bakery, a perfect place to drop in for tea or coffee and a treat.

Speaking of treats, our Executive Chef Jeffrey Wilfong has created two new menus to welcome the bounty of fall into the dining room: one with options that are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free, and one for omnivores. Both include mouth-watering dishes, featuring seasonal ingredients like pumpkin, pears, kale and mushrooms.

It’s always a pleasure to see the dining room full of guests looking relaxed in their white robes, as they enjoy a meal. We’re full of anticipation to open our spacious, new dining room and kitchen. This additional wing of the inn is still a work in progress, but we’re finally entering the last stages.

In the evenings, many guests who stay in spa cottages are opting for a private dining experience. Imagine the wonderful smells that will waft from your kitchen as one of our chefs prepares dinner, while you relax in your hot tub or read a favourite author by your own fireplace.

The Festive Flare Stone Wrap (available from Nov-Jan) is an hour-and-a-half of sheer bliss, specially designed to relax you, boost your immune system and hydrate and moisturize your skin. As part of our renovation, we’re adding new spa rooms at Ste. Anne’s, which will allow us to offer you a greater selection of treatment times and options.

Between meals and spa treatments, the fresh fall air offers the perfect time to pamper yourself in our fieldstone grotto, with a soak in the hot tub, a dip in the plunge pool or some strokes in our heated lap pool. After all that, our guest’s favourite indulgence is the eucalyptus steam room, it’s so relaxing and therapeutic.

Fall offers pleasures for all the senses – the sight of autumn colours, the smell of rainfall on wet leaves, the taste of a crunchy apple, the sound of the wind swirling by the window and the touch of cool air on our face. Come to visit and enjoy it all. There’s nothing like autumn at Ste. Anne’s.
