WALK/Summer Months

During this group wellness class you are invited to join us for a walk through the rolling Northumberland Hills. On your journey along our groomed trails you may encounter in Ste. Anne's cedar forest, a spring-fed creek full of life or even discover Ste. Anne's Farms - home to a number of domestic horses. Allow the fresh air and exercise to relieve any built-up tension and re-energize your body. Don't forget to dress for the weather and bring your walking shoes and your water bottle!

 

 Range of motion required• Walk for at least one hour at a gentle pace    walk up and down steep inclines and declines• Walk on uneven ground• (P) - Safe for women in their third trimester of pregnancy, dependent on doctor approval...................................Avoid if• You are recovering from major surgery• You have a major heart condition or other physical ailment that prohibits an increase in heart rate• You have any severe joint injuries on your lower extremities  What to bring/prepare• Hat• Sunscreen• Water bottle• Bug spray (just in case)• Comfortable walking clothing• Appropriate shoes for walking• Bathing suit attire is not appropriate for any group wellness class...................................Your class may feature• Natural streams• Man-made bridges• Resting benches• Hand rails at extreme inclines• Navigational signs (ask at front desk for a map of the hiking trails)

 

SNOWSHOE/Winter Months

During this group wellness class you will have the opportunity to snowshoe through the rolling snow-draped hills of Northumberland County. Never snowshoed before? You will be given instructions on how to use your state-of-the art snowshoes before you begin your guided snowshoeing experience through our outdoor trails. Remember to bring your outdoor winter attire and water bottle to ensure your comfort while exploring the trails!

 

 Range of motion required• Moderate personal balance required to maintain stability in your snowshoes• Walk for at least one hour at a moderate pace• Walk up and down moderately steep hills• Walk on uneven ground(P) - Safe for women in their third trimester of pregnancy, dependent on doctor approval...................................Avoid if• You are recovering from major surgery• You have a major heart condition or other physical ailment that prohibits an increase in heart rate• You have any severe joint injuries on your lower extremities  What to bring/prepare• Winter hiking boots• Water bottle• Snow pants• Winter jacket• Hat• Mittens• Sunglasses (just in case)...................................Your class may feature• State-of-the art snowshoes provided• Natural streams• Man-made bridges• Resting benches• Hand rails at extreme inclines• Navigational signs (ask at front desk for a map of the hiking trails)
