Getting Some Sun This Summer

Getting Some Sun This Summer

In need of some happy hormone? Getting outside and (sensibly) soaking up the sun could be just what you need.

Exposure to sunlight is believed to increase the brain’s release of endorphins and serotonin, which is directly linked to boosting and regulating your mood.

It only takes as little as 10 minutes to start feeling the fun effects of the sun!

Not only will you feel good embracing the great outdoors, but some evidence suggests sunlight can also decrease your chances of developing various diseases, such as osteoporosis, diabetes and cancers.

Additionally, by participating and increasing your physical activity, you may also feel better emotionally. Those suffering from depression can be encouraged to increase their vitamin D (usually through food or sunlight). This exposure may help improve symptoms.

At Ste. Anne’s, we’re offering a number of outdoor wellness classes, for all fitness levels. From yoga and stretch in our outdoor pavilion, to hikes and meditative walks amongst our almost 500 acres, there are options for everyone.

One of our most popular activities this season is our 45-minute, daily e-bike tours, says Managing Director David Navia.

You can go out and check out the Northumberland countryside with one of our fitness and wellness trainers.

If you’re looking for something a little slower pace, we encourage you to take part in one of our unique offerings, like our complimentary “Morning Muck” – an opportunity for participants to join our stable caretaker for morning chores at Ste. Anne’s Farms.

If you’re a plantsman (or plantswoman), we also host Garden tours! On this tour you may visit any number of our gardens including our meditative labyrinth, and our rose, perennial, or kitchen gardens. Feel free to ask the gardeners any questions you may have.
