Vacationing for your Health & Well-being
We are vacation slackers, and we need to be vacation seekers.
Taking time off from work and routines is integral to our long-term well-being, yet global vacation deprivation is at a 10-year high, according to a new Expedia survey. Workplace shortages and increased workloads are contributing to Canadian working adults being vacation deprived.
Vacation deprivation happens when people work too much and have too little time off. Sound familiar? Endless demands and unrelenting stress put us at risk of burnout which can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion and feeling depleted and discouraged.
More than ever, we need to get away to destress, refocus and recharge our mental health. Vacations are linked to better health outcomes. Even looking forward to a break has positive effects on our overall health.
Ste. Anne’s Spa offers the perfect antidote to stress and overwhelm. A full day at our award-winning wellness spa, or even better, a night or two, will boost spirits and energy reserves.
How will you feel when you step inside our doors? Calm? Happy? Spoiled? Welcome to an abundance of therapeutic pampering, relaxation and rejuvenation.
Time off makes you better at work and at play, and time at the spa can be life-changing in many ways. You’ll leave here feeling refreshed, more creative and positive, your mind, body and soul revived.
Make vacations a habit. Along with a healthy diet, exercise and adequate sleep, proper vacation hygiene is right up there as essential to good health. Vacation days are wellness days, and we need to take time for ourselves with no intentions, chores, or expectations of what needs to be achieved that day – except getting yourself to soothing spa treatments and delicious organic meals.
As easy as it might be to skip a vacation, don’t! We make it easy to get away – Ste. Anne’s all-inclusive spa is only 90 minutes from downtown Toronto. So take a wellness break with us. You’ll be glad you did!
Meanwhile, if you have no vacation days any time soon, here’s what you can do to battle burnout and look after yourself:
- Share what’s going on with trusted friends and family.
- Try to work out more acceptable work-life boundaries with your manager.
- Take short breaks every few hours away from your computer.
- Do something physical – a walk, bike ride or some yoga.
- Meditate and do some deep breathing exercises.
- Indulge in regular self-care, like massages and calming baths with relaxing music and candles.
- Unplug from social media.
- Sleep in on weekends.
- Get together with friends to rejuvenate in laughter and love.
