Steamed Mussels with White Wine & Garlic

- 2 pounds - mussels, cleaned
- 1 tablespoon - butter
- 2 - small shallots, thinly sliced
- 2 - garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup - white wine
- 1 tablespoon - lemon juice
- 1/4 cup - roughly chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
- To taste - salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 - baguette, warmed (for serving)
- Step 1: Clean the Mussels
Use a firm brush to remove any sand or barnacles from the mussels. Rinse thoroughly under cold water.
- Step 2: Cook the Aromatics
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallots and garlic, and cook until softened and fragrant, about 2–3 minutes.

Pour in the white wine and lemon juice. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer.

Add the cleaned mussels to the pot. Cover with a lid and let steam for about 5–7 minutes, or until all the mussels have opened. Discard any that remain closed.
